Northwest Mining Association will continue
to supply educational information about Uses
for Minerals. Fact Sheets are available for several elements Copper, Gold, Lead, Silver and Zinc that can be used as resources for classroom
handouts. Check out the classrom activities that can be downloaded for teacher lesson
plans and demonstrations.
Layers of the Earth is a Hands-on
demonstration using and apple to represent the layers of the earth. Orange Peel Plate Tectonics
is another creative way to teach students about our ever changing world.
Mighty Minerals
is a teaching unit for the 4th grade classroom focusing on some of the basic
characteristics of Metallic and Nonmetallic Minerals. Lesson plans will focus on specific
facts, applications, and current issues related to each mineral and can be downloaded for
classroom use. |
