Northwest Mining Association

Mineral Education and Outreach

Northwest Mining Association is proud of its public education and outreach program. NWMA is strongly committed to providing accurate information and opportunities to educate teachers, K-12 students, and the public on the value of minerals and mining to our society and our industry’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Northwest Mining Association will continue to supply Mighty Minerals, a teaching unit for the 4th grade classroom focusing on some of the basic characteristics of metallic and non-metallic minerals. Lesson plans focus on specific facts, applications, and current issues related to each mineral and can be copied for classroom use. NWMA is committed to our members in communicating to the public that environmental protection is an essential element of modern mining.
