Today in History An expedition of Europeans led by Daniel Greysolon de Du Luth visited Minnesota in 1689 and saw the headwaters of the Mississippi. The Continental Congress approved a resolution severing ties with Great Britain in 1776 although adoption of the formal wording of the Declaration of Independence had to wait for July 4th. The US Congress passed the Sherman Anti-Trust Act in 1890. 1962 saw the opening of the first Wal-Mart store in Rogers, Arkansas. And in 1979, the first US coin honoring a woman was introduced-the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin.
